Quest Data Connector for Oracle & Hadoop

Plan on attending the #HadoopSummit next week in Santa Clara? Then be sure to stop by to see the latest in Quest solutions for Hadoop. We’ll be showcasing several products that help with transferring data to and from Hadoop, as well as tools for managing your NoSQL and cloud databases.

We’re also sponsoring the Big Data Camp on June 28th from 5:30pm to 10pm where our very own Guy Harrison (@guyharrison) will be leading a Lighting Talk at 6:30pm. There will also be an “Uncoference” breakout sessions, with Guy’s topic “Big Data Meets Old Data: Integrating RDBMS with Big Data Sources” as a suggested topic.

Here’s a sneak peek into some of our tools that we’ll be showcasing:

Quest® Data Transporter For Oracle and Hive

This is a freeware utility certified with Cloudera’s Distribution for Apache Hadoop that allows the outputs of a Hive HQL query to be saved to an Oracle database table. It can be used to make the results of Hive queries available to those who have access to an Oracle system but not to Hadoop, and may assist making the outputs of Hive jobs accessible to real time systems.

Quest® Data Connector
for Oracle and Hadoop

Quest Data Connector is a connector between Oracle and Apache Hadoop that allows for fast and scalable data transfer between Oracle databases and Hadoop. It is designed as a freeware plug-in to Sqoop, a command line tool designed to easily import information from SQL databases into your Hadoop cluster. Sqoop gives you the ability to import individual tables or entire databases to files in HDFS, and to import from SQL databases straight into Hive. It also provides a framework for development which allows for the creation of specialized high-performance connectors to Cloudera’s Distribution for Hadoop (CDH) Cloudera’s existing open-source framework. Download it.

Toad for Cloud Databases

Toad® for Cloud Databases provides a SQL-based interface that makes it simple for you to generate queries, migrate, browse, and edit data, as well as create reports and tables in a familiar SQL view. With Toad for Cloud Databases, it’s easy to load and export data from cloud databases to a variety of external data sources, including RDBMS. Great tool for SimpleDB, Azure Table Services, Apache HBase, SQL Azure, Cassandra, and MongoDB. Download it
